Company-funded for all FT

Why a creative shop chose to fully fund tradelines for every full-time employee—and how retention shifted.

Retention pressure

Junior designers and producers were leaving after eighteen months for marginally higher salaries elsewhere. Boxline’s partners knew they could not win a pure cash race against tech giants.

They wanted a signal that the company invested in long-term financial health, not just project deadlines.

Company-funded by design

Workcred is fully employer-paid for all full-time staff—no payroll deduction. Finance modeled the platform fee plus per-enrolled payment as a line item next to learning stipends and mental health benefits.

Creative leads framed it openly in all-hands: “We’re putting a tradeline on your report because we want you to stay and grow here.”

Early results

Exit interviews in the first two quarters mentioned the benefit unprompted. HR saw a measurable drop in voluntary turnover among employees with under three years’ tenure.

Boxline is piloting the same structure for long-term contractors next, with legal review on classification.

It’s the first perk our juniors brag about to friends—and it costs less than another round of spot bonuses.
